The Nepali Mela is an opportunity for members of the Nepali diaspora in the UK to meet up and celebrate their culture with Nepali cuisine, heritage stalls and a parade of local traditional dance, singing and dress. Ear Aid Nepal were represented by Trustees Lisa Gurung, Rosie Martin, Tom Martin and Steve Broomfield. Rosie was also accompanied and assisted by friend Pete Doolan and Tom by his wife Annie and two boys Archie (9) and Barney (7).

The team set up a stall, with the site kindly subsidised by the Mela organisers. We offered for sale a selection of post-cards, books, mugs and t-shirts with the aim of raising money for the charity while also raising awareness of our work. The stall proved a magnet for both interested visitors and members of other charities working in the medical charitable sector.

We managed to raise a total of £274 due to sales and donations and also made a number of useful connections with other groups. Perhaps most importantly the team had a great time, renewed and enhanced our connections with Nepal and made many new friends.
