Support for patients lacking funds Sept-Dec 2025
January 27, 2026
The Ear Aid Nepal Poor Fund supports patients who cannot afford to pay fully for treatment themselves. Our colleagues in Pokhara carefully interview patients to determine their suitability for financial support and distribute funds provided by our organisation to pay part or sometimes all of the costs of treatment in the form of hearing rehabilitation (hearing aids) or surgical treatment.
In the period Sept-Dec 2025, Ear Aid Nepal provided support to 26 patients with a total value of NR 578,980 (£2900). One patient who benefitted in this way is Prajwal Khadka.
Prajwal Khadka’s Journey to Healing
Prajwal Khadka is a 15-year-old boy from Pokhara, Kaski District. From a very young age, Prajwal faced many health challenges that affected both his childhood and education. He was born with a cleft lip and had to undergo two operations during his early years. Because of frequent hospital visits and recovery time, his schooling was delayed. At the age of 15, Prajwal is currently studying in Grade 7, two years older than his peers.
In addition to this, Prajwal has suffered from serious ear infections since he was three years old. He has had regular discharge of foul-smelling fluid from his ear, which has caused discomfort and difficulty in daily life. The condition worsened over time and required specialized medical attention.
Prajwal’s family has also faced significant hardships. His father, who served in the Army, passed away four years ago. Since then, the family has struggled financially. His elder brother works in a juice shop, and the family receives a small pension from his father’s service. However, this income is not enough to meet daily household needs, let alone cover the cost of surgery and treatment.
With hope for recovery, Prajwal was brought to Green Pastures Hospital (GPH), where he was carefully assessed by the medical team. He underwent a mastoid exploration surgery to treat his long-standing ear condition. The surgery was successful and has brought relief from the infection and discomfort he had endured for many years.
The Khadka family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Green Pastures Hospital for the compassionate care and support provided during Prajwal’s treatment. They shared their hope that with improved health, Prajwal can now focus on his education and look forward to a healthier and brighter future.
